The UFC is set to make a return to Madison Square Garden on Saturday November 6th at 10 pm. The card which is completely stacked and will feature two championship fights. The main event will be for the welterweight championship between defending champion Kamaru Usman and number one ranked welterweight Colby Covington. The co-main event will feature an immediate rematch between reigning Women’s strawweight champion, Rose Namajunas against number one contender, Zhang Weili. Along with the two championship bouts we will see fights between top ranked lightweights, Justin Gaethje and Michael Chandler. Number eight ranked middleweight, Sean Strickland and Luke Rockhold will also be on the card in a 3 round bout. Bantam Weights Frankie Edgar and Marlon Vera Will round out the card. If you’re a MMA fan and aren’t excited for this card you don’t have a pulse.
The first bout of note is Justin Gaethje vs. Michael Chandler. Gaethje who’s the first of trainor Trevor Wittman’s fighters to fight on this card hasn’t fought since last October when he was interim champion and faced reigning lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov and lost to Nurmagomedov by technical submission in round two by triangle choke. He’s facing former Bellator Champion, Michael Chandler who is fresh off a loss to Charles Oliveira for the vacant lightweight title at UFC 262.
The second of Trevor Wittman’s fighters to step foot in the UFC octagon will be Rose Namajunas who is fresh off a victory against her opponent that evening, Zhang Weili. She regained her title becoming one of the first female fighters to ever regain their championship gold. Namajunas who is a black belt and Tae Kwon do a black belt in Karate, and a brown belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is a tough fighter and pound for pound one of the best female fighters in the UFC.
Kamaru Usman who’s also one of Trevor Wittman’s fighters and will be the final fighter of Whittman’s to step into the Octagon that night, and will be facing Colby Covington in a rematch of their fight at UFC 245 in December of 2019. That fight was very close. Covington is coming off a win against former champion Tyron Woodley. Usman is riding a win streak of 18 victories 14 of which were in the UFC. It will be great to see these two fight it out for UFC gold and we will see if Usman will bring home his 5th title defense
UFC President, Dana White pulled out all the stops on this card, and again if you’re an MMA fan, and don’t find this card exciting then you don’t have a pulse.
